In April, Re Phillips and I were invited by Dumlupinar University in Kütahya, Turkey to exhibit works dealing with the African diaspora in the Middle East. Both Re and my work deal with ethnic and social identity, specifically exploring what it means to be of African heritage in a modern world where the imposition of labels can hinder rather than promote connectivity with those from various backgrounds.
